Overview
The objective of the OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Law is to equip learners with the foundational knowledge and skills required to pursue a career in the legal sector or progress to further academic study in law or related fields.
The qualification is designed to ensure that each learner has an opportunity to build sector knowledge and develop current skills and understanding in areas such as contract law, criminal law, the law of tort, and legal research.
Entry requirements
The Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Law qualification can be offered to learners from age 16 who possess O/L qualifications.
Equivalences
OTHM qualifications at Level 3 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to GCE AS/A Levels.
Qualification structure
The OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Law consists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and 480 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.

Duration and delivery
The qualification is designed to be delivered over one academic year for full-time study but it is also flexible in its delivery in order to accommodate blended learning.
Progressions
Successful completion of the OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in LAW provides learners the opportunity for a wide range of academic progressions including the OTHM Level 4 and 5 Diploma in LAW program leading to UK LLB Final year Top-up degree program.
As this qualification is approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), many universities acknowledge the ability of learners after studying the OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma in LAW and may consider them for direct entry into LLB degree programmes.
